Rafina Port Rent a Car

Rafina Port is the second largest port in Attica, situated on the east coast of the peninsula. It is less busy than the main port of Athens, but it still handles more than 2 million passengers each year. The port features one large terminal, 13 wharves for passenger and car ferries, and two wharves for high-speed boats. From Rafina Port, you can reach the Cyclades, Crete, Northeast Aegean islands, and Marmari in Evia. Rafina Port is a relatively small port, so you can easily reach the ferries on foot. Although a smaller port than Attica’s largest port, it tends to get crowded during summer, with approximately 120 crossings per week. Several ferries with destination to the Cyclades make a faster journey than those departing from Piraeus, ranging from 1 to 3 hours to reach the North Cyclades. The main ferry companies operating to and from Rafina Port include Blue Star Ferries, Golden Star Ferries, and Golden Star Ferries. Rafina Port is also the nearest port to the airport, just 16 km away. So, if you’re coming to Greece by airplane, you can reach Rafina Port in less than 30 minutes by car. If you’re departing from Rafina Port to get to the Greek islands, consider dedicating a day or two to explore this beautiful port city. Our car rentals in Rafina Port come with no extra costs, no excess, and unlimited kilometer policies. Driving in Rafina is more pleasant than in the city center, and you can easily explore other places around Rafina, especially the beaches. Make your Imperial car hire reservation today and get to know our perks!

What to Do in Rafina Port?

⦿ If you have a few hours waiting before the ferry departure, why not go for a quick dip? Kokkino Limanaki Beach is the main beach in Rafina and provides natural shade, clean waters, and a half-sandy gravel shore. Nearby, there’s Ble Limanaki, a natural cove that is not easily accessible for people with mobility problems but is worth the visit if you’re fine walking on rocky terrain.

⦿ Want to eat a typical Greek lunch before boarding your ferry? The traditional taverna, I Kali Kardia Tou Nikola, is your go-to place in Rafina for real Greek dishes at reasonable prices.

⦿ Rafina has a large fishing market, and many fishermen and anglers regularly work to provide fresh fish to the local markets and restaurants. If you’re staying in Rafina, why not buy some fresh bream, sardines, or red mullets to cook them at home?

⦿ Picturesque Agios Nikolas Church is built atop a hill overlooking Rafina’s Port. It offers panoramic views of the port and city, and it’s a serene environment for enjoying the sunset.

⦿ If you have some spare time, consider driving to nearby Mati, where the catastrophic wildfires occurred in 2018. As you drive by, you will notice burned neighborhoods, but fortunately, nature is gradually reviving the area. Head to Mati Beach for swimming and at Faros All Day Bar to enjoy some snacks with wine or beer.
